Special Access Instructions for eBooks & Online Newspapers: Home

A guide providing special instructions for accessing ebooks and specific journals.

Special Access

Some online resources require special access instructions to be followed to use them off campus. They typically do not support off-campus access using your Dickinson username and password or have apps that do not support that streamlined access.

The tabs on this guide provide instructions for accessing these kinds of e-journals and databases, including:

  • Chronicle of Higher Education
  • The Economist
  • Financial Times
  • HathiTrust
  • NY Times
  • Thesaurus Linguae Graecae (TLG)
  • Wall Street Journal

You will also find instructions for downloading EBSCOhost and Ebook Central ebooks.

For additional assistance, please Ask a Librarian.

No Special Access Required

Most library databases, online journals, and ebooks may be accessed directly while connected to the campus network without any special instructions. In these cases, off-campus access must be initiated through the links provided on the library website, which will prompt you for your Dickinson login. Our library links may be found by searching the A-Z Database List or Jumpstart.

Find our library links by searching the A-Z database list or JumpStart.

The Economist and New Yorker are examples of popular sources that require no special access efforts beyond your Dickinson network login.
