Special Access Instructions for E-Books & Online Newspapers: Financial Times

A guide providing special instructions for accessing e-books and specific journals., Mobile Apps, and Tools for Classes

Through a special arrangement with the Financial Times, the Library provides Dickinson students, faculty, and staff, with full access to, whether on-campus or off. Accessing this subscription requires creating an account at using your Dickinson e-mail address. Below are instructions provided by, including information about mobile apps and tools designed to help professors and students use in their classes.

The Dickinson College library has purchased a subscription to, the Financial Times online.

Current faculty, students and staff can create trial accounts at no charge. The retail cost of an subscription is $487 a year. The Financial Times is one of the world's leading business publications and delivers the latest on business, economic and political news from around the world.

How do I create an account?

Faculty, students and staff can either:

a) If you are on campus, go to, click on an article title or the Subscribe button at the top of the page and then follow the instructions shown to create an account;

b) If you are off campus, go directly to our college registration page:

NOTE: In either case you will need to use your Dickinson email address as your login. You will receive a confirmation e-mail that will allow you to create a password.

Is there a mobile app?

-  FT web apps are available for iOS and Android in their respective app stores. Please go to for more information. 

Can I set up alerts? What other tools can I use?

The following tools can help integrate FT content into your daily workflow:

·       Sign up for email briefings and follow particular topics on your feed

·       Save, organize and share articles via the FT clippings tool

·       Read the FT ePaper, an exact digital replica of the Financial Times newspaper. 

·       Use the myFT button to access your account and customize the articles that appear on your feed.

What Happened to FT Newslines?

  • Newslines was discontinued by FT in June 2015 due to low use.
