In October 2001, the European Commission launched a new series of surveys in the 13 countries that are applying for European Union membership under the heading Candidate Countries Eurobarometer (CCEB). Initially named Applicant Countries Eurobarometer (or AC-EB) the surveys were ordered and co-ordinated by the Directorate-General for Press and Communication (Public Opinion Analysis). The CCEB surveys are carried out in Bulgaria, Republic of Cyprus (with a separate northern Cyprus survey parallel to 2002.2), Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Turkey. After a four year gap the CCEB is replacing the former Central and Eastern Eurobarometer. The CCEB surveys gather information from the societies applying to become members of the EU in a way that is comparable with the Standard Eurobarometer.

The Central and Eastern Eurobarometer (CEEB) surveys were begun in 1990, when nationally representative surveys were undertaken on behalf of the European Commission in Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Hungary, Poland, and the Soviet Union. The surveys, which explored individuals' attitudes toward democratic and economic reform, were carried out in the autumn of each year through 1997 in up to 20 countries of the region. An extension of the Eurobarometer series conducted semi-annually in the member nations of the European Union (EU), the Central and Eastern Eurobarometers also focused on public support for the EU and on other issues facing Europe as a whole. After the first wave of research, the number of countries was variably expanded to reflect then-current political alignments and realities of access for survey researchers. In each of the countries surveyed, approximately 1,000 persons aged 15 and over were interviewed in their own homes. Starting with CEEB 5 (1994), the fieldwork and data integration were coordinated by GfK EUROPE Ad hoc Research together with regional partners, thereby replacing GALLUP UK. Note that beginning with CEEB 6, the archival survey titles in this ICPSR series do not contain a hyphen separating "Euro" and "Barometer," in keeping with current usage. Monitors the public opinion in the European Union member and candidate countries.

The standard Eurobarometer surveys are designed to provide a regular monitoring of the social and political attitudes among the European publics, to obtain regular readings of support for European integration, public awareness of and attitudes toward European unification, the institutions of the European Communities, as of 1992 the European Union, and its policies in complementary fashion. Intermittently Eurobarometer surveys have investigated special topics, such as agriculture, biotechnology, energy, environment, family planning, gender roles, health related issues, immigration, poverty and social exclusion, regional identity, science and technology, information society, working conditions, urban traffic, knowledge of languages etc. In the case of some supplementary studies, special youth and elderly samples have been drawn. Starting with Eurobarometer 34 (1990) additional supplementary surveys on special issues are conducted under each wave.

The World Values Surveys and European Values Surveys series was designed to enable a crossnational, crosscultural comparison of values and norms on a wide variety of topics and to monitor changes in values and attitudes across the globe. This data collection contains the survey data from the four waves of the World Values Surveys and European Values Surveys, carried out in 1981-1984, 1990-1993, 1995-1997, and 1999-2004. These survey responses have now been integrated into one dataset, to facilitate time series analysis.

The aims of the ECS are to map, assess and quantify information on workplace policies and practices across Europe in a harmonised way and – to a lesser extent – to monitor developments over time. The ECS has been carried out every four years since 2004.

The data sets available at this website make it possible to compare and contrast election results in Europe across countries and regions and conduct comparisons over time.

Carried out every four years, the European Quality of Life Survey (EQLS) examines both the objective circumstances of European citizens' lives and how they feel about those circumstances and their lives in general. It collects data on a range of issues, such as employment, income, education, housing, family, health and work-life balance. It also looks at subjective topics, such as people's levels of happiness, life satisfaction, and perceived quality of society.

ESPAD is a collaborative effort of independent research teams in more than forty European countries and the largest cross-national research project on adolescent substance use in the world. The overall aim with the project is to repeatedly collect comparable data on substance use among 15-16 year old students in as many European countries as possible.

The European Social Survey (ESS) is an academically driven cross-national survey that has been conducted across Europe since its establishment in 2001. Every two years, face-to-face interviews are conducted with newly selected, cross-sectional samples. The survey measures the attitudes, beliefs and behaviour patterns of diverse populations in more than thirty nations.

The European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) is the EU’s centre of fundamental rights expertise. It is one of the EU’s decentralised agencies. These agencies are set up to provide expert advice to the institutions of the EU and the Member States on a range of issues. The Agency helps to ensure that the fundamental rights of people living in the EU are protected.

The Mannheim Eurobarometer Trend File, a collaborative effort between the Mannheimer Zentrum fur Europaische Sozialforschung (MZES) and the Zentrum fur Umfragen, Methoden und Analysen (ZUMA), combined the most important trend questions of the Eurobarometer surveys conducted between 1970 and 2002.

This research project, conducted jointly by the Centre on Migration, Policy and Society (COMPAS) at the University of Oxford, and the Trades Union Congress (TUC), surveyed Polish and Lithuanian nationals working in the UK who had requested TUC leaflets on employment rights and the role of trades unions. The survey explored the kinds of difficulties experienced by Polish and Lithuanian workers in the UK labour market, and their potential for joining trades unions.

The cumulative dataset harmonizes and integrates selected long trends on public understanding of science derived from five Eurobarometer surveys.

This mixed methods study examines the ways in which households and individuals negotiate and cope with forms of social exclusion emerging from the introduction of the market economy in central European cities. The research examines the strategies adopted by households and individuals, how they link informal and formal economic activities, and how they are constituted differently in contrasting geographical contexts.

This series (formerly called Dynamics of Population Aging in ECE Countries) assembles a set of cross-nationally comparable microdata samples for Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) countries based on the 1990 national population and housing censuses in countries of Europe and North America to study the social and economic conditions of older persons.

The European Parliament Research Group (EPRG) conducted two surveys of Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) in 2000 and 2006. The 2000 survey was conducted in October-December 2000 and surveyed MEPs of the Fifth European Parliament (1999-2004). The 2006 survey was conducted in March-June 2006 and surveyed MEPs of the Sixth European Parliament (2004-09).
