Sensory Information

Sound

Library quiet zones include the eastern half of the library (facing Britton Plaza), on all three floors.  There are also several enclosed study rooms on each floor, which may be reserved by individuals or small groups.

Less quiet portions of the library encompass the western half of the building (facing McKenny Suites and Upper Quads), which includes the Biblio Cafe and event spaces such as the Stafford and Rabinowitz reading areas.

Light

Most library study rooms, which can be reserved by individuals or small groups, have lighting that can be adjusted by the occupants of the room.

Seating for Focus

The library has a number of high-backed chairs designed to limit visual distractions. These chairs, which are located throughout the library, are on wheels so that they can be rotated to adjust the view.

There are also many individual study carrels throughout the building.  They can mostly be found along the permieter of the building, including along the western wall behind the Biblio Cafe, and along the back wall (facing Dickinson Walk) in the upper level quiet zone.
