Interlibrary Loan Services and Guidelines: Home

Understand how to borrow research materials through ILL.

What is Interlibrary Loan (ILL)?

The purpose of Interlibrary loan is to support faculty and student research by providing access to materials that the Dickinson College library does not own and to materials owned but currently unavailable by requesting those materials from other institutions.  We reciprocate by lending our books and copying documents for other institutions.

Who is eligible to borrow through ILL?

Current students, faculty, staff, and emeritus professors have full ILL privileges.

Alumni and retirees may use ILL services at no charge when the material requested can be obtained free of charge. However, when libraries bill for services, these charges will be passed on to the patron making the request.

To receive ILL privileges, you will need:

  • A valid Dickinson ID
  • An active account with the library reflecting your patron status
