Thanks to the ongoing generosity of John Pohl '78 and Susan Wyckoff Pohl '80, students and faculty in the Earth Sciences Department have had the opportunity to study climate change in the field during sponsored trips to the arctic. John and Susan have sponsored four trips to the Arctic. The first Arctic Adventure was to Baffin Island with Marcus Key, Joseph Priestley Professor of Natural Philosophy (1989), and four earth sciences majors. The second trip to Greenland, the third to Alaska, and the fourth trip to the Canadian Arctic were with Ben Edwards, Professor of Earth Sciences (2002) and several students.
