Planet Earth: Maps

Online maps

National Geologic Map Database

If you are looking for maps of your state then start here. If you are looking for a map of a particular place then start here. If you want to specify what type of features you want highlighted on the map then you will want to use the comprehensive search option

Topographic Maps

If you need maps that show the topography of a region then this is a useful place to get started.

GeoMapApp is an earth science exploration and visualization application created by the Marine Geoscience Data System.

You can also find topographic maps, aerial photographs & topographic map data here.

Print maps

Most print geologic maps are located on the lower level of the Waidner-Spahr Library, though some are located in Kaufman. To find maps in the library, search in the catalog for your state and "geologic map".

While the library catalog does contain some entries for maps, most maps are not cataloged. Click here for instructions on locating maps.

Please do not attempt to re-file maps once you have finished with them. Instead, simply place them on the refilling table and a student assistant will re-file them.

If you have any questions about locating a map please feel free to contact the Science Liaison Librarian, Nick Lonergan.
