Designing Figures and Graphs

Carefully consider how you want to present your results visually in your poster. There are a variety of ways to add emphasis to figures below are examples.

These methods can also be used in tables of data to draw the viewer's attention to interesting findings.

Avoid including a background on your chart and remove extraneous information as much as possible. Keep in mind a poster presentation is not a formal lab write up. Do you need to label that axis or is the label implied in the chart title (or vice-versa)?

Use a similar approach in formatting tables. Use color or other ways to direct visual attention to the information that really matters.
