Special Access Instructions: Ebrary e-books

A guide providing special instructions for accessing e-books and specific journals.

Downloading Ebrary documents

Ebrary has multiple ways to access their content in terms of downloading books for use, using a computer, tablet, or smartphone. Most methods involve using more than one device.

One thing to keep in mind is that no matter how you want to view your e-book, whether on a smartphone or a computer, you will likely need to install or use your Adobe Digital Editions account, if you already have one.

*This tutorial focuses on mac and apple products. For more detail about downloading to android devices or a PC, go to the following link:

  3. The default option is "Print pages to PDF". Click "OK". You will be redirected to the online ebook.
  4. Click on the "Print" icon.
  5. A dialog box will appear. Three options will be available: Current page, Pages from "(___) to (___)", and Current Chapter. You also have the option to choose the citation style. Once you are done making your choices, click "Continue".

  3. You will be redirected to a page that includes a myriad of information about your ebook. Click on "Download" below your ebook's cover photo to begin the download process.
  4. A list of different devices to which you can download the ebook will be shown. Pick the device of your choice.

Once you are done installing, click on "Done with this step". NOTE: There is a separate guide for downloading ebooks to mobile devices below.

Transferring e-book from computer to smartphone:

First, make sure you have downloaded the ebrary app onto your iPhone.

  1. Connect your iPhone to your mac.
  2. Sync your device as usual.
  3. Click on iPhone in the left hand menu.
  4. Click on Apps at the top.
  5. Scroll down to File Sharing.
  6. Click on Ebrary and the Digital Editions folder. Click Add.
  7. Select the e-book file from that folder- make sure to select the PDF file.
